Hello There,

My name is Zarina and I am the founder of The Face Chi. Being born in India, the Yoga and Ayurveda capital of the world, I have always been passionate about holistic health and beauty. I now live in Brisbane, Australia. My other passions include yoga, traveling, and salsa dancing.

The Face Chi is a unique blend of natural techniques for a youthful, toned face and glowing skin. It incorporates a unique combination of face exercises, face massage, posture exercises and breathwork.

My mission is to guide you to the best version of your face, allowing it to tell its own magical story.

My Journey with Face Yoga

 My Eye Condition

Whilst I have been practicing yoga and holistic living for over 17 years, my journey with Face Yoga started a few years ago . My right eyelid started drooping and became quite visible. This created facial asymmetry and made me very conscious of my eye. Covering it up with make-up only made it worse.

I saw many doctors, but they said that it can happen with age and surgery was an option. Furthermore, they said surgery may be required on both eyelids to achieve symmetry.

 

The Natural Route

I did not want to go down the surgery route and started looking for a natural solution. That’s when I found Face Yoga or Face Yoga found me. What intrigued me, was the fact that we had overused and sleeping muscles in our face. With over 50 muscles in our face, neck, and head region, I questioned why we don’t exercise our face?

I started practicing face exercises regularly combining them with face massage, posture exercises, breathwork and a healthy lifestyle.

In about 4-6 weeks I found a slight improvement in my eyelid. In about 6 months, I started seeing my eyelid lifting more. Not only that, but my family and friends started commenting on how much more sculpted and brighter my face looked. My jawline was more defined and my puffiness, dark circles, tension headaches, and sinusitis had reduced significantly. Also my neck looked longer and leaner.

Being a practicing yogi, my experience with breath work made me realize that integrating yogic breathing into a Face Yoga practice had so many wonderful benefits on the face and skin, and so I felt like I had to add this modality to the Face Chi practice. These methods combined together supercharged the effects on my face and at 45, I felt really confident and happy with how my face looked and how I felt on the inside.

 

Teaching Face Yoga

I knew that I wanted to spread the amazing benefits of Face Yoga to anyone who wanted a natural and holistic approach to the best version of their face. The fact that training our facial muscles not only treated muscle atrophy but had amazing aesthetic and health benefits fascinated me. A teacher’s training course in Face Yoga was the next step for me.

I got certified as a Face Yoga Instructor with accreditation from The International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.  Having worked with several Face Yoga masters and completed numerous workshops, I tried to master my craft. I am also certified as a holistic beauty and breathwork coach. I recently got certified in Dermatology and Integrative health from the Australian Institute of Dermal Science, as I believe an integrated inside-out approach gets you the best results.

This natural and holistic approach combining the best of face exercises, face massage techniques, and posture exercises, combined with ‘breathwork for beauty’ culminated in the forming of The Face Chi.

When practiced regularly, Face Yoga makes you feel calm and peaceful on the inside, and gives you a lifted, toned, and fresh-faced look on the outside.
